I have fallen behind on my rent due to a horrible MVA that I was involved in where my car was hit by the other driver. I'm still in PT twice a week learning how to walk again.
I was traveling back home from work, I was at a red light to make a left turn, the light turned green for our lane to turn, the vehicle in front of me went and then I followed & never completed the turn. I was struck by another vehicle at a high rate of speed to the driver's side impacting me severely. I was transported to Gulf Coast medical center where I spent a week in the trauma ICU with the following injuries right rib fracture 2&3, left side rib fractures 7,8,&9, mediastinum fracture, lacerated spleen, hemopneumothorax to the left lower lobe, blood in the bowels, fractures L-1-L5 transverse & T-9 transverse fracture. After that first week I was transferred to another hospital where I spent a week inpatient rehab with intensive occupational therapy and physical therapy. I was told the night of the accident by neuro that there would be a possibility that I may not be able to ever walk again. Recovery & PT twice a week has caused me to fall behind.

Not all Heroes needing assistance are able to be matched successfully with a specific non-profit partner. In these instances the Coordinated Assistance Network allows Heroes to self post their request on the isupportveterans.org platform so that private donations can be collected for their specific need.
