I lost site of my family's budget while trying to keep up with multiple family issues that occured in a very short period of time.
2023 really took my family and myself for a roller coaster ride. We lost more than a couple of pets to very bizarre circumstances. My 71 y/o fathers health took a nose dive. He is a Vietnam Era Marine Veteran and has lived with me for the past 3.5 years and just after I had started a new job as a 911 Dispatcher for Harrison County, he started getting really sick and from there we spent the next 4 months in and out of hospitals. I left my job. He is in final stage congestive heart failure as well as stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease, and COPD!!! I could not return to work while caring for my dad. I also have two teenagers that are constantly on the move. I got overwhelmed, over stimulated and out of budget paying for food deliveries, extra curriculars for the kids, fuel, and so much more. I am working as a door dash driver at the moment until my family schedule stabilizes.

Not all Heroes needing assistance are able to be matched successfully with a specific non-profit partner. In these instances the Coordinated Assistance Network allows Heroes to self post their request on the isupportveterans.org platform so that private donations can be collected for their specific need.
