Homelessness Risk / Rental assistance after a 3-year-long battle with Social Security resulted in benefits denial. 3 years of lost/potential income and bills have now put me in financial ruin.
I am a 100% disabled veteran who relies on VA Disability Compensation to survive. I was enrolled in school but have since graduated and do not have the current benefits to re-enroll. I am currently 2 months behind in rent, totaling about $4,500. Expenses in California have also skyrocketed overall, including groceries. I am also behind on my telephone bill. I also have two pending emergency bills that I currently cannot pay that total $4,285.58. I am also waiting on a result from Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), which has been ongoing for over 3 years. After 3 years my SSDI benefits were DENIED on 8/24/23. I am requesting some rent assistance to avoid homelessness until these situations are resolved. The amount can be paid directly to DJS Properties (Leasing/Rental Company) if needed. T

Not all Heroes needing assistance are able to be matched successfully with a specific non-profit partner. In these instances the Coordinated Assistance Network allows Heroes to self post their request on the isupportveterans.org platform so that private donations can be collected for their specific need.
