Bill for surgery for tongue tie revision for my son, Soren Matthews
In late June of 2024 we were able to afford a house, and in July I had my second child, both great changes but expensive. However, there were problems. We could not get out of our rental contract at closing, meaning we had to pay both mortgage and rent along with utilities for both the house and apartment for four months, until the end of October. Our baby also had issues with tongue tie that we needed to get surgery and medical help with. Finally, as we worked to get the house move-in ready we discovered further issues adding to the mounting upfront costs, starting with mold that was in several rooms and had gotten into roof beams, walls, and subfloors. The source of the mold was leaks in the pipes and roof leaks, some of which we've not fully fixed due to the high costs of complete replacements or total repairs. Plenty of less critical house repairs are on hold as we are close to having no funds, and we still have bills to pay like for my baby's surgery.

Not all Heroes needing assistance are able to be matched successfully with a specific non-profit partner. In these instances the Coordinated Assistance Network allows Heroes to self post their request on the isupportveterans.org platform so that private donations can be collected for their specific need.
